Concluding with reflections on the importance of the Thomist contribution to the development of Western thought, he suggests principles that bear strongly on our own social and political institutions.
About the author Th o m a s Gil b y , O.P., who has been professor of moral theology at Blackfriars, Oxford, is the author of many books, including Phoenix and Turtle and Barbara Celarent and is the editor of the philosophical and theological texts of Thomas Aquinas.
